About FIXD Body Therapy: Women's Therapeutic Bodywork in Cary, NC

A Practice Created for Women Who Carry a Lot... in Their Bodies and in Their Lives

I'm a licensed restorative bodyworker in Cary, NC who specializes in advanced pain relief massage therapy and bodywork for women.

For over 23 years, I've worked with women seeking relief from persistent pain, the kind that doesn't always come from injury, overuse, or "doing too much," but from a body that has been under long-term stress, inflammation, or hormonal change.

Here's a missing link that isn't often discussed in the bodywork industry, massage therapy promotes hormone health, so it is essential for a women at all ages, and especially in midlife.

Although massage therapy doesn't directly balance hormones the way that dietary & lifestyle changes, medications, and endocrine treatments do, it does have a positive influence on the systems that regulate hormones such as the nervous system, stress response, circulation, lymphatic/immune system, and the signals that tissues send to the brain.

Massage therapy can reduce stress-inducing hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. It can help raise mood-boosting, repairing hormones like oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine. This matters because the levels of these hormones can affect progesterone, thyroid health, and affect insulin resistance, as well as estrogen dominance.

Although bodywork doesn't fix these issues, it helps reduce the chronic stress signaling that is a major block to hormone regulation. This is especially relevant for those with autoimmune conditions, PCOS, perimenopause, PMS, menopause, and hormone-related cancers.

So massage therapy supports hormone regulation by calming the nervous system, improving circulation and lymph flow, reducing inflammatory signaling, and creating the conditions needed for the body to regulate itself more effectively.

Why I Do This Work

As a woman, I've personally experienced the physical and emotional challenges that my clients bring to the table. It wasn't until I trained in massage and bodywork that I realized how essential this care is for healing, recovery, and self-connection. I couldn't find a single, well-rounded approach that addressed all of my needs, with gentle therapies that didn't cause more pain, and a therapist who looked beyond the pain point to the entire body, so I created one.

I learned, over time, that pain is not always a muscular problem to be forced away. Very often, it's the result of a nervous system that no longer feels safe enough to let go. When that's the case, aggressive or painful bodywork can actually reinforce tension rather than resolve it.

My mission is simple, to help women move, rest, and live with less pain in a way that supports long-term healing, and to provide a safe, supportive space where your body, experiences, and stories are honored.
