Yes. The techniques I use, like manual lymphatic drainage, scar tissue release, and myofascial release are gentle but clinically effective. Light, targeted touch can help reduce inflammation, encourage fluid movement, release fascial restrictions, and support the body's natural healing processes without causing more discomfort. You don't need forceful pressure to get results.
Every surgeon's protocol is different, but most clients begin lymphatic drainage as early as 5-7 days post-op. You'll need to have your doctor's clearance, especially if drains are still in place or there are concerns about wound healing. Once you're cleared, we'll work together to support your healing and prevent or address complications like fibrosis and fluid buildup.
That's completely normal. Manual lymphatic drainage is especially beneficial during this time, as it helps reduce swelling and promote comfort. Every session is customized to meet you where you are in your recovery, and I always work within your tolerance and comfort levels.
My work is therapeutic, focused, and based on clinical training. This isn't a full-body relaxation massage. It's targeted abdominal and post-surgical work designed to help reduce swelling, manage scarring, support organ health, and improve function. It's about recovery and long-term results, not just temporary relief.
Yes. Scar tissue can cause problems months or even years after surgery. Whether you're dealing with tightness, pulling, pain, or loss of mobility, I can assess your scar tissue and provide specialized bodywork to soften, release, and improve the surrounding tissue.
I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide receipts for HSA/FSA reimbursement. Also, if your insurance does reimburse for massage therapy, talk with me about how you can be reimbursed. I am a covered national provider for insurance companies who do pay.
No. While you may feel sensitivity in areas that are restricted or healing, I never use deep pressure or force. All techniques are adapted to your comfort level. The goal is to reduce pain, not create it.
It depends on your body, the type of surgery you've had, and how your tissue is responding. Some clients come for 3-6 sessions post-op, while others with more complex needs or older scars may benefit from ongoing care. We'll discuss your goals and create a plan that works for you.
The focus of my practice is abdominal and post-surgical care, but I also address related areas like the hips. low back, and ribs when needed. These areas often contribute to or are affected by abdominal dysfunction and can be included to support full-body balance and healing.
Wear something comfortable. For abdominal work, you'll be draped securely and only the area being treated will be exposed. If you're post-surgical, please bring any garments, foams, or boards you've been instructed to wear and we will adjust accordingly.
A referral is not required, but I may ask for your doctor's clearance if you're within a few weeks post-surgery or have any medical concerns. If you're currently under medical care, it's always a good idea to let your provider know you're adding bodywork to your recovery plan.
